Longing Times [OPEN]

Aria walked along the dry prairie grass that lined a land that had already been claimed. She was happy being in Kriel, and so she didn't know why she went this way to get back home. It just seemed like the right thing to do today. She felt drawn here for some odd reason and so she walked along the border of the lands.

She was careful for she didn't want to be caught. Aria wanted to stay in the other lands, and so her goal was to not be claimed. She heard about the stallion who lived in these lands. He was supposedly had amazing icy blue eyes, and a white pelt that shown in the sun. His name was Ghost. He was talked about sometimes as she passed through the different lands. She had learned quite a bit. For example, she knew that he had owned the lands for around a year now, and he still didn't have any herd members, and Aria found that odd.

Maybe he just likes to be left alone, she pondered with herself. She herself had to admit that at one point the sound of being able to live in complete silence, and to live away from other equines who would only hurt you sounded like a nice way to go, but after moving to Cavallo, she had met quite a few nice horses that have taught her that it is better to have others around you. Maybe that is how this, Ghost, liked to live. In complete silence.

Powerful strides pushed the stallion forward with very little effort as the ground beneath him melted away. Coming to the other side of the field he shortened his stride and slowed his pace as he began up one of the small hills. Adrenaline hummed through his veins at the thrill of his playful jaunt that at least enabled him to burn off some of his energy, granted it wasn't much but it was enough to calm himself. Catching movement out of the corner of his eye he turned his head inhaling sharply trying to catch the scent of whoever was on his land. Tensing more out of habit than actual need he cautiously moved in the direction the other had vanished.

Sensing only the scent of a mare on the wind he relaxed visibly as he gazed around only to see a beautiful ebony and ivory mare standing only a few short paces off. Her expression was one of fear and bewilderment as she she returned his gaze cautiously, her body clearly displaying the tension between them. Stopping a few paces off from where she stood he allowed his blue orbs to scan over her frame with curiosity as he lowered his head hoping to seem less intimidating with his tall stature. "Please don't be frightened miss, I won't cause you any harm." He spoke softly hoping to reassure her a little bit. His eyes had glanced over the scars that could be seen in places on her coat and her missing chunk of her ear. His stomach clenched in horror as he tried to not think of the possibilities of how she had come to possess these marks.

It completely escaped him how some stallions could be so ..so barbaric and cruel. It made him sick just thinking about what he would do if he ever came across the one who had given this poor mare these scars. Despite not knowing her yet he wanted to be there for her and protect her from the demons out there, she deserved better than what she had been shown so far. Pushing his mind off the subject he was able to maintain a emotionless expression not wanting to give the fae the wrong impression of him. "Please forgive me, My name is Ghost and this land is my home of Dras Leona. Welcome." Nodding his head me motioned to the surrounding area before offering a small smile.

Another scent had come to him through the breeze causing him to glance around only to spot another mare in the distance walking along slowly. Ok seriously he had started the day off with the hopes of potentially talking to someone and so far he had been blessed to have two mares wander onto his land. What is the chances of that happening he thought in amazement. He was extremely curious as to who the other mare was but for now he was talking to the beautiful paint before him, he did not want to be rude. Lowering his gaze back to the mare he quietly awaited her response hoping he hadn't scared her too much already.

As he awaited patiently for the beautiful mare before him to speak he kept an eye on the other mare who was nearby to see where it was that she was going. Had she not picked up their scent by now or was she trying to run from them? He hoped that maybe she would come join them here so he could talk with them both but he could not force it to happen. Inhaling again he could sense both mares were feeling the effects of the spring weather but tried his best to ignore it and focus on other things that were more important. The perfume was enough to drive some stallions mad with lust and desire but it took much greater strength to maintain one's composure and not show any outward effects. Forcing a mare to conceive was not right on any level, he would rather have some sort of relationship with a mare before he would even consider taking things further despite how hard it was to control himself at times.

"But sir... Is it not the stallions who say that they won't hurt someone... Who are the ones that do exactly that..." The fae's lyrics caught him totally off hand as he quickly realized what she had expected to happen. No wonder she was so scared of him, why had he not clued into this before. Sadness stirred within his mind knowing that her words were proven to be true on way too many occasions by other rogue stags. "Please call me Ghost dear, I know you have no reason to trust me but I am unlike many other stallions who would break their word. I have never once caused harm to anyone and always tried my hardest to keep my word. He replied gently, lowering his head to meet her eye level. He knew that she would probably not believe him but he at least had to try to make her see that not all stallions were like that.

"I am very sorry, Sir Ghost. I did not mean to trespass. I was just passing through, I promise... My name is Vassylissa, sir... I'm so sorry, Sir... I didn't mean to be rude... I just thought that she might be lonely... That she might want to talk... His heart was breaking just listening to the fear and anxiety that radiated into her voice. He would really love to find the damn stallion that dared to touch this poor soul and teach him a lesson in manners and respect. The darkened side of the thought startled him as normally he was not one to think such malicious things but when it came down to protecting someone else he could be rather ruthless. These thoughts remained hidden beneath his mask no one ever really having seen what he was like when someone he cared about was threatened. Calming his mind quickly and with ease he spoke again softly. "It is my pleasure to meet you Vassylissa. I am glad that we get the opportunity to meet." Pausing to allow a couple seconds for the fae to process the words he continued. "You have done nothing wrong my dear, it is very nice of you to care so much for someone who you do not know. It says much about your character."

As the mare called out kindly to the other his hopes rose that he may finally get to meet the other mare that he had observed earlier. He loved to talk to new people and learn little bits and pieces about them. Nobody was the same and it amazed him some of the stories that others had to tell. In response he called out kindly welcoming the other mare to come join them. "Please don't be afraid, you are more than welcome here on my land anytime. You may stay here as long as you wish, should you want to call this home I would love for you to stay but the option is yours. I will not make you decide one way or another the choice is yours and yours alone. While you remain here I will not let anyone hurt you, never again will someone lay harm upon you. For that you have my word." Finishing he smiled kindly reaching out with his muzzle to gently touch the mare's shoulder hoping to reassure her and make her feel more comfortable. Her pelt was warm and soft to the touch but he allowed only this short contact before pulling his head back to meet her blue eyes with his own a smile playing at the corners of his lips. He wanted more than anything for her to understand that he truly meant her no harm, he wanted to protect her from her demons that still terrorized her and make her feel loved, safe and wanted. All she needed to do was give him the chance to prove himself to her, but that was up to Vassylissa to determine.

NOTES: Awe I don't think he has been this motivated to help someone. He is just a big teddy bear <3 It will be very interesting to see how these two play out he might even be able to fall for her but then again maybe he already has XD

Vassylissa watched the stallion, fear filling her gaze as he drew closer. She could just see him attacking her, ripping off half of her other ear or the remains of her half ear. She was imagining the same thing that the previous stallion had done... Only more violent, if possible. That stallion had eaten her ear, she was sure, and he was bloodthirsty... Quite literally. He wanted the her blood in his mouth, and she knew it. She was so terrified that this was just going to be a replay of that night... That terrible night. She wanted to run... To disappear into the woods... But he had already seen her, and he could easily follow her if he wanted to. And the punishment for running would probably be one thousand times worse than if she stayed there and received the blows willingly. Her head lowered submissively as he drew nearer, and her ears laid back slightly, showing no anger... No challenge. Hopefully, he would see no threat and let her go... But she could only hope, she supposed.

She spoke, then, and she could tell that she had startled him with the words that she had spoken. He didn't speak for a long moment, and she wondered if he was deciding whether or not to use this opportunity to try and hurt her or not. The thought scared her even more, and she hoped, prayed, that that wasn't the case. At last, he spoke, and his lyrics were soft and gentle on her ears. Please call me Ghost dear, I know you have no reason to trust me but I am unlike many other stallions who would break their word. I have never once caused harm to anyone and always tried my hardest to keep my word. He lowered his head so that he could be at her eye level, and she met his gaze. For once in the entire encounter with this stallion, she relaxed ever so slightly. He wasn't trying to challenge anybody... He wasn't trying to hurt her, so began to think. He really was kind...

But she was still afraid of him... Afraid of all the things that he could easily do to her if he had just a little bit of an urge. Her fear was shown in her words as she spoke to him, watching him with terrified eyes still. She hadn't even replied to his last statement, unable to form words that could possibly make sense as a response to what he had said. But he spoke again, this time saying something that she, perhaps, could respond to. It is my pleasure to meet you Vassylissa. I am glad that we get the opportunity to meet. You have done nothing wrong my dear, it is very nice of you to care so much for someone who you do not know. It says much about your character. And though he called her dear, she was still calmed by his words, visibly relaxing as she stood there, glancing at the other mare to make sure that she was on her way over to meet them. "Thank you, Ghost." She said simply, her ears raising to point towards him, slowly warming up to him. She wanted so badly for him to be kind... For him not to hurt her like she had been hurt before.

As they waited for the other mare to reach them, Vassylissa's gaze slowly drew over the stallion, looking over his coloration more than anything. Such pretty colors going together to make a handsome stallion. And he was that... Handsome. And, she hoped that it was sincere, kind. She watched as he nickered to the other mare before looking back at her and speaking one last time. Please don't be afraid, you are more than welcome here on my land anytime. You may stay here as long as you wish, should you want to call this home I would love for you to stay but the option is yours. I will not make you decide one way or another the choice is yours and yours alone. While you remain here I will not let anyone hurt you, never again will someone lay harm upon you. For that you have my word. He spoke a lot, but that comforted her a bit. He wanted her to see the truth... He wanted her to trust him. His soft pink muzzle stretched out and rested gently on her should for a moment before he pulled back once more. Vassylissa only flinched a little when she saw him move, but as his muzzle rested against her soft pelt, she only stayed alert, ready to bolt if he should attack... But he didn't, and she finally started convincing herself that she could trust this stallion. "I don't know if I want to call this home, sir Ghost. It is a beautiful place... And you are the kindest soul that I have come across in many years..." She said indecisively as the other mare approached. A smile lit Vassy's face in greeting as she watched the other mare. "Hello miss..."

Vassylissa held stories that perhaps no other equine in the world could tell. Stories that only ended in a scar on her pelt. She didn't think she could remember anything where she hadn't gained a scar from whatever it was. Especially if she had come into contact with another horse. Then she most definitely didn't have a memory that didn't end in a scar. Except for her mother... She could very faintly remember her mother's touch, her mother's voice, but it had been so long since she had seen her that... She didn't know how much longer she would be able to remember such things. The thought made her slightly upset and disappointed, though she pushed the thought and feelings away from her mind so that she wouldn't upset the stallion that she had found herself talking to. This stallion named Ghost.

He was kind, really. She was starting to realize this now, the fact that he was kind and most likely wouldn't hurt her. The thought comforted her slightly as he gently touched his muzzle to her shoulder. It was a gentle touch, one that made her relax slightly and give a faint smile. Perhaps he wasn't so bad after all... Perhaps... He wouldn't hurt her. The thoughts crossed her mind, and the longer she spent with the stallion, the more she trusted him. She also began to realize that, if she did join his herd, and he ended up hurting her, she could leave him easily. So maybe she could join him. Of he ended up staying as kind as he was at that moment, then she would be safe and feel so protected. The thought sparked an interest in her, and she looked up at him, their blue eyes locking for a moment as the other mare approached. "I think... I think I want to stay here..." She said, a small smile on her face, "Quick change of mind, huh?"

Vassylissa pulled her gaze from the stallion to the mare, and she smiled, greeting her with friendly words. She was a little more nervous with the mare nearby, only because se wasn't very good with conversation, but she remained mostly calm, not showing as much fear in having others around anymore. She smiled when Ghost inteoduced her, and she dipped her head politely to the mare. He was kind to introduce her, especially as his friend. It made her feel safe and wanted in a way. She smiled and moved slightly closer to her new companion, letting him know that she was growing more comfortable with his presence and that she trusted him a bit more. She watched the mare curiously, half ear pointed forward to catch any words she might speak and her whole ear flicking to Ghost to catch his words, should he speak again.

Vassylissa wasn't really afraid of this stallion anymore... He was kind. Well, at least from what she could tell. He could have easily overpowered her if he wanted to, but he didn't, and for that, she respected him. Even if he was going to hurt her, she respected the fact that he had enough self control to not hurt her or try to force her right away. She still didn't know what to think of him, but she respected his strength when it came to the time of year that it was. Her eyes lifted ever so slightly to look over him. He was handsome, she had to admit, and his face held that kind touch that the other, more vicious stallions had not. At this, she relaxed further. He really did appear kind... And as though he wouldn't harm her. Besides that, why would he put up a nice act for so long? What would that do for him?

She perked her ears toward him and lifted her head a little, pleased to here to kind words from him. "I am pleased to hear such." She said softly, kindly as always. Her gaze drifted to the brightening sky, and for the first time that day, she realized how hot her dark pelt was getting. She shifted at the discomfort of being so hot, though she tried to hide it from the stallion so he didn't think that he was doing anything wrong. In fact, he hadn't done anything to upset her, really. He was just a kind stallion looking to greet the mates that entered his land. A fly settled itself on her neck, and she quickly shook out her mane to displace the annoying little thing. The dark places on her pelt starting to glisten with sweat. It was amazing how quickly the black could hear up in the direct sunlight.

Vassylissa lifted her head more when he spoke again, and her ears swiveled toward him to focus her attention solely on him. Quickly, she nodded, wanting desperately to get out of the sun. "That would be wonderful, Sir- I mean Ghost... I would love to see more of your beautiful lands... Of my new home." She said, kind in her words as a smile slowly pulled at her lips. Her home. The thought that she finally had somewhere to call home, a place to go to at the end of the day, gave her comfort. She held peace now that she had found a place to be wanted. She could say that she had a place to go to once she was too tired to wander anymore. She was safe.
